a lazy sunday

today, was another relaxing day. we had church in the morning, which was good (minus the screaming kid right behind me). haha. i met some of the members of the church, who were all very friendly. the church is so warm and welcoming to all the newcomers. i suppose it's because they are used to having volunteers from all over the country come to their church on sundays.

after church, jamie took me out for lunch to a local favorite called dempsey's, which served mostly seafood (my fav!). i had been craving a shrimp po boy since i had gotten here, because i had my first one when i came to new orleans over spring break. so i ordered a po boy, half with oyster and half with shrimp. it was absolutely delicious :)

for the afternoon, i rode my bike to the beach and went for a run along the water. it was great...and so peaceful. i spent some alone time with God on the pier down at the ocean. i found a great little hidden spot below the pier where the waves met the concrete. i will definitely be going back there :)

this evening, two different groups of volunteers came slowly trickling in. they consisted of mostly older people and some families. i have only met a few of them so far, but they seem great :)

the most eventful part of the evening was finding a stray kitten :) it was adorable and starving so gave it some food. then, i proceeded to spend the rest of the night petting it and playing with it. i just LOVE kittens :) we're hoping to keep it at the church for good.

tomorrow is going to be a pretty hectic and busy day from what i've heard. im pretty excited about that since my time here so far has been pretty slow. we're finally starting work, now that there are a lot of volunteers here...so im hoping to get a lot done :) another group arrives tomorrow and then one on wednesday. there's supposed to be about a hundred volunteers here by the end of the week. its gonna be gggrreat!
