crawfish!

finally, after a busy, stressful week of hard work, i was able to relax and get some laziness in. it was very nice :)

last night was taco night...one of the teams made tacos for dinner with all the fixins. it was delish! we had church this morning and then after we went out to dempseys again for lunch. one thing i had wanted to try while i was down here was crawfish. this part of the u.s. is known for their crawfish, so i had to get me some.

i was surprised at how cheap the crawfish is here. it was only 2.75$ for a pound of crawfish! i only ordered a pound because i just wanted to try them. everyone else ordered a pound also...the waittress brought us out a large platter filled with crawfish. they smelled incredible! jamie had to demonstrate to me how to eat the little creatures because i didnt kno where to start. i had heard from several people that it was common to suck out the brains of the crawfish before eating the meat. this sounds disgusting to most people who've never tried it but thats how they do it down here. im willing to try most anything so i tried it. it was actually pretty delicious...its basically just drinking the juice that the crawfish is cooked in. the actual crawfish was also delicious and i quickly got the hang of peeling it. i really enjoyed the strong flavor in the crawfish, especially the kick it had to it. i wished i had ordered more of it because i loved it. i also got another shrimp po-boy and some gumbo. i got a great taste of the culture in this meal :)

the rest of the day was pretty relaxed...we will have two teams here next week and they are both arriving tomorrow morning. one of the teams wont be staying on the property tho, so there wont be that many people here, which will make things a lot less stressful. im definitely looking forward to that :)
